Site Engineer (Mechanical) | Al-Futtaim Engineering & Technologies | Emirati Talent

Role Overview Al-Futtaim Engineering & Technologies is seeking a high-caliber Mechanical Site Engineer to join our team under the Emirati Talent program. This role is designed for a strategic and technically proficient professional capable of leading on-site mechanical activities from design validation to final handover. You will be responsible for orchestrating high-quality installations, managing complex resource allocations, and driving cost-efficiency across large-scale MEP projects. Success in this role requires a blend of rigorous engineering oversight, proactive stakeholder management, and a commitment to maintaining the UAE’s highest safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Execution Leadership

Design Validation: Review and validate mechanical designs, performing technical calculations to ensure system integrity and performance.
Scope Management: Analyze project specifications and tender clarifications to identify risks and high-value engineering opportunities.
Resource Orchestration: Manage labor and material requirements, ensuring the timely procurement of supplies and the efficient coordination of subcontractors.
Productivity Monitoring: Track on-site progress against project timelines, implementing corrective actions to ensure milestones are met without compromising workmanship.
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for main contractors, consultants, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Financial & Cost Optimization

Margin Enhancement: Identify and propose value engineering solutions aimed at increasing overall project profit margins by at least 2%.
Variation Management: Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors to capture variation works and ensure technical claims are accurately tracked and approved.
Equipment Efficiency: Maximize the utilization of plant and equipment to minimize operational overheads and waste.

Engineering & Technical Coordination

Design Approval: Coordinate with the drafting team for the timely submission and approval of shop drawings, maintaining meticulous progress registers.
Technical Problem-Solving: Resolve complex mechanical challenges on-site to ensure design and construction remain compliant with industry standards.
Interdisciplinary Coordination: Verify equipment loads with other trades (Electrical, Plumbing) and notify stakeholders of any changes to the technical scope.
Regulatory Compliance: Liaise with local UAE authorities to secure necessary approvals and stay current with evolving regional standards.

Quality, Safety & Standards

Process Standardization: Apply internal engineering procedures and develop bespoke method statements in line with project specifications.
Knowledge Management: Maintain a “Lessons Learned” register to share technical insights and improve future project delivery across the organization.
HSE Leadership: Enforce strict compliance with company and subcontractor HSE policies, conducting Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and participating in environmental initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Eligibility: Must be a UAE National (Emirati Talent program).
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 2–5 years of experience within MEP contracting, with at least 3 years of proven experience specifically within the UAE market.
Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced knowledge of MEP industry standards and mechanical design regulations.
- Proficiency in engineering and planning software: AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, or Primavera.
Core Competencies:
- Strong commercial acumen with expertise in cost management and value engineering.
- Exceptional communication skills for effective stakeholder collaboration.
- Leadership capability to manage diverse on-site teams and subcontractors.
