Site Engineer – Mechanical | Al-Futtaim Engineering & Technologies | Emirati Talent

Role Overview Al-Futtaim Engineering & Technologies is seeking a strategic and technically proficient Mechanical Site Engineer to join our dedicated Emirati Talent program. In this leadership-oriented role, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team, including Junior Engineers, Supervisors, and the drafting department, to ensure mechanical activities are executed in perfect alignment with project goals. Whether managing a single flagship project or a diverse portfolio, you will be responsible for validating designs, optimizing resources, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution Leadership

Design Validation: Lead the validation of mechanical designs and complex technical calculations to ensure system integrity.
Strategic Planning: Review project scopes, specifications, and tender documents to identify value engineering opportunities and mitigate potential risks.
Resource Orchestration: Manage labor, material requirements, and equipment allocation, ensuring that site teams are coordinated for maximum productivity.
On-Site Governance: Oversee installation and construction activities, taking proactive corrective actions for any deviations to maintain high standards of workmanship.
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, consultants, and local authorities to ensure all project deliverables are met.

Cost Management & Profitability

Margin Optimization: Propose and implement value engineering solutions with a target to increase overall project profit margins by at least 2%.
Variation Claims: Coordinate closely with the Quantity Surveyor (QS) to capture variation works and ensure technical claims are accurately tracked and approved.
Efficiency Tracking: Monitor the percentage of variation claims against project value, ensuring that approved values meet commercial expectations.

Engineering & Technical Coordination

Drawing Approval: Supervise the drafting team and engineers to ensure the timely submission and approval of shop drawings, maintaining meticulous progress registers.
Procurement Support: Collaborate with procurement and engineers to finalize vendors and ensure all materials comply with industry and project standards.
Interdisciplinary Synergy: Verify equipment loads with other trades (Electrical, Plumbing) and notify stakeholders of any changes to the design or construction scope.

Quality, Standards & HSE

Process Excellence: Apply internal engineering procedures and templates consistently, developing bespoke Method Statements for all site activities.
Knowledge Sharing: Maintain a “Lessons Learned” register to share technical insights and improve project delivery across the enterprise.
Safety Leadership: Enforce strict compliance with the AFE HSE Policy to maintain a Zero Accident / Lost Time Injury (LTI) environment.
Risk Assessment: Ensure the completion of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and participate actively in safety and environmental investigations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Eligibility: Must be a UAE National (Emirati Talent program).
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 2–5 years of experience within MEP contracting, with a minimum of 3 years specifically within the UAE market.
Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical design, project planning, and cost management.
- Hands-on experience with industry software: AutoCAD, Revit, MS Project, and Primavera.
Core Competencies:
- Strong ability to propose and implement value engineering solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and project planning abilities.
- Proven leadership skills in managing site personnel and subcontractors.
