HSE Engineer (E-House & Civil Works)
The Role
Based in Sharjah, you will serve as the primary safety supervisor for the civil construction and electrical installation of an E-House. Your mission is to ensure that all structural foundations and high-voltage electrical setups adhere to rigorous safety protocols. You will be the “boots on the ground” ensuring that heavy lifts, ATEX-compliant installations, and civil works are executed without incident over a 12–14 month duration.
Key Responsibilities
-
Civil Safety Oversight: Supervise the safety aspects of foundations and structural works specifically for E-House placement.
-
Electrical Safety Excellence: Manage risks associated with MV/HV (Medium Voltage/High Voltage) switchgear installation, ensuring all electrical safety protocols are strictly followed.
-
Permit Management: Execute and oversee the ADNOC Work Permit System (PTW), ensuring all high-risk activities are legally and safely permitted.
-
Critical Risk Control: Lead safety briefings and oversight for Heavy Lifts (cranage and positioning of the E-House modules).
-
Hazardous Area Compliance: Ensure all installations meet ATEX standards for explosive atmospheres, particularly important in oil and gas environments.
-
Incident Prevention: Enforce ADNOC Life Saving Rules and conduct regular site audits to proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
What Are We Looking For?
-
Experience: 5–8 years of hands-on HSE experience, specifically within Civil Construction and Electrical Installations.
-
Certification: NEBOSH IGC (International General Certificate) is mandatory.
-
Domain Expertise: Proven track record in supervising switchgear installations and heavy-duty structural foundations.
-
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with ADNOC safety frameworks (PTW, Life Saving Rules) and international ATEX standards.
-
Soft Skills: Strong leadership and the ability to intervene and stop unsafe work effectively.
Strategic Tips for Your Application
-
Highlight the “E-House” Experience: An E-House is a prefabricated modular power substation. If you have ever supervised the “set-down” or “hook-up” of a modular building, emphasize this. It involves unique risks compared to standard building construction.
-
Focus on ADNOC Standards: If you have worked on ADNOC projects before, list your ADNOC Approval or specific project names. The ADNOC PTW system is very specific; demonstrating you already know it will move you to the top of the pile.
-
The Civil-Electrical Bridge: Most HSE engineers specialize in one or the other. This role requires both. Structure your CV to show a split: e.g., “50% Civil Foundation Safety, 50% HV Electrical Installation Safety.”
-
Heavy Lift Competency: Moving an E-House requires a Critical Lift Plan. Mention your experience reviewing rigging studies or supervising multi-crane lifts.
