Shift Manager – Line Maintenance | Air Arabia
Role Overview
Air Arabia is seeking a highly skilled Shift Manager – Line Maintenance to oversee critical maintenance operations. In this role, you will support the Maintenance Manager of Line and Outstations in managing, monitoring, and certifying maintenance activities for Air Arabia and third-party aircraft. You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians to ensure all work is executed with cost-effectiveness, safety, and meticulous accuracy in full compliance with GCAA regulations. This position demands a strategic leader capable of managing high-pressure operational environments while maintaining the highest standards of aircraft airworthiness.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Technical Oversight

Mission-Critical Management: Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians to carry out line maintenance, troubleshooting, and defect rectification (TSR) based on Technical Log-books, pilot inputs, and MCC instructions.

Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for the MCC (Maintenance Control Center), Development and Planning Engineers, and Quality Assurance to ensure seamless execution of daily maintenance tasks.

Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Supervise 3rd-party SLAs, ensuring all contracted tasks are performed by licensed and trained personnel to maintain vital business relationships.

Base Hangar Liaison: Oversee the safe transfer procedures for aircraft requiring heavy maintenance at the Base Maintenance Hangar.
Planning & Performance Monitoring

Daily Execution: Review operational status reports daily to ensure all tasks loaded by MCC or Planning Engineers are completed on time and within budget.

Conflict Resolution: Coordinate constantly with MCC regarding pending technical concerns that could cause operational disruptions or a drop in service standards.

Team Development: Provide technical guidance and performance assessments to staff, assisting them in complex troubleshooting and identifying proactive solutions for potential defects.

Resource Management: Oversee “D-Store” activities to ensure tools and equipment are available, calibrated, and safely maintained.
Compliance, Safety & Administration

GCAA Adherence: Ensure all maintenance activities, safety measures, and working procedures strictly follow GCAA regulations and company Quality Assurance standards.

Credential Tracking: Monitor license renewals and approvals for the engineering team, maintaining up-to-date records and highlighting performance concerns to management.

Documentation & Reporting: Generate comprehensive daily reports regarding planned maintenance, Short Term Plan (STP) activities, AOG (Aircraft on Ground) status, and safety incidents.

Departmental Support: Manage administrative functions including shift rosters, overtime sheets, and end-of-service (EOS) documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft/Aeronautical Engineering or a Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance from a recognized institute with equivalent experience.

Licensing: * Must hold (or have held) an EASA/GCAA Aircraft Maintenance License.

Must hold (or have held) a GCAA Type-Rating License (A320 preference) and be qualified for Company Authorization.

Experience: * 9+ years in Line or Base Maintenance.

At least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity, with 2 years leading teams independently.

Proven experience working with Civil Aviation Authorities (preferably GCAA) and deep familiarity with maintenance manuals and policies.

Technical Mastery:

Experience leading teams under heavy workload schedules.

Exposure to airline flight operations and Internal/External Audit practices (Maintenance & Safety).

Proficient in Microsoft Office and aviation-specific technology systems.

Communication: High proficiency in English with the ability to translate complex data into clear instructions.

Professional Membership: Affiliation with recognized Aviation/Airline industry associations.

Mobility: Ability to obtain a UAE Driver’s License.
