Role Overview

SAP is seeking a visionary AI Architect to join our growing team of AI and industry experts serving the Middle East. In this high-impact role, you will define the architecture for enterprise-grade applications where AI is a core design principle, not an afterthought. You will shape end-to-end solutions across application services, data architecture, and LLM orchestration, ensuring that our AI products are scalable, secure, and resilient. This position is ideal for a systems thinker who can connect architectural decisions to broad business outcomes and lead teams through the fast-evolving AI landscape.

What You’ll Build

Core AI & Application Architecture

  • Intelligent Foundations: Design architectures for large-scale applications with AI integrated into the core service layers, integration layers, and event-driven systems.

  • GenAI Orchestration: Develop patterns for LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, vector search, and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) patterns.

  • Pipeline Design: Shape the end-to-end data and feature pipelines required for both real-time and batch inference at an enterprise scale.

Governance & Platform Evolution

  • Guardrails & Safety: Establish architectural guardrails for responsible AI, including security controls, privacy patterns, and model governance.

  • Scalability & Resilience: Guide engineering teams on cloud-native practices using Kubernetes and containers to ensure high-performance and observable systems.

  • Standards & Patterns: Define reference architectures and reusable technical patterns that allow product teams to scale AI capabilities safely and efficiently.

Strategic Leadership

  • Build vs. Buy: Evaluate models, platforms, and integration tools, articulating technical and business trade-offs to executive stakeholders.

  • Roadmap Influence: Lead architecture reviews and align technical directions across multiple product areas to support long-term platform growth.

What You Bring

  • Architecture Expertise: Deep experience in software architecture for distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven patterns.

  • AI/ML Mastery: Strong understanding of model lifecycle design, training pipelines, and inference layers.

  • Generative AI Experience: Proven track record designing solutions using LLMs, embeddings, and vector databases.

  • Cloud-Native Knowledge: Proficiency in Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, and resilience engineering.

  • Data Governance: Strong grasp of metadata, privacy, and access patterns necessary for trustworthy AI.

  • Communication: Ability to clarify complex architectural decisions for both deep-tech engineers and non-technical business leaders.

About You

  • Experience: 6+ years in software engineering or architecture with a track record of delivering complex, large-scale systems.

  • Systems Thinker: Ability to see the “big picture” and connect individual design choices to the broader platform strategy.

  • Leader: A technical leader capable of influencing without authority and driving alignment across a matrixed organization.

  • Curious & Current: Passionate about staying at the forefront of emerging AI and cloud technologies.
