Airport Service Manager | SalamAir | Port Sudan (PZU)

Role Overview

As the Airport Service Manager for SalamAir at Port Sudan International Airport (PZU), you are the primary custodian of our ground operations, brand image, and passenger experience. You will lead the day-to-day station activities, ensuring that everything from check-in to baggage handling operates with 5-star efficiency. Your role is a balance of high-stakes operational management, strict regulatory compliance, and diplomatic liaison with local authorities. You are responsible for protecting the company’s financial interests while ensuring that safety and service recovery remain our top priorities during disruptions.


Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Excellence & Leadership

  • Station Oversight: Monitor and review all daily operations, including check-in, safety, security, and baggage handling, ensuring full compliance with the Ground Operations Manual.

  • Team Management: Lead, organize, and coach the airport team and third-party handling agents. Conduct comprehensive briefings and debriefings to ensure every staff member is aligned with SalamAir standards.

  • Disruption Management: Act as the lead coordinator during technical delays or flight disruptions. Implement recovery plans in constant liaison with Ground and Flight Operations to minimize passenger impact.

2. Regulatory Compliance & Safety

  • Safety Management (SMS): Proactively identify and report hazards, operational irregularities, and safety risks. Ensure all security standards strictly follow the Airport Operations Security Program (AOSP).

  • Incident Reporting: Ensure all accidents or incidents are reported to SalamAir HQ immediately using approved formats and assist in any subsequent investigations.

  • Manual Governance: Guarantee that the latest revisions of all operational manuals, advisories, and circulars are available and understood by all relevant personnel.

3. Stakeholder Liaison & Financial Integrity

  • Authority Representation: Serve as the face of SalamAir when liaising with local airport authorities, immigration, and federal regulators at the station level.

  • Vendor Governance: Implement and monitor contracted suppliers against established SLAs and KPIs. Validate and approve station billing in accordance with signed SGHAs.

  • Financial Stewardship: Control all ground handling costs to ensure the most cost-efficient operation possible without compromising safety or service quality.

4. Brand & Service Standards

  • Grooming & Image: Enforce company uniform and grooming standards at all times to promote a premium brand image.

  • Service Recovery: Oversee baggage irregularities and service recovery efforts, ensuring that even in difficult situations, the passenger experience is prioritized.


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: * Minimum of 10 years in airport operations or aviation management.

    • Proven experience in a leadership role within an airline or airport environment.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Technical Knowledge: * In-depth understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations, Safety Standards, and International Immigration/VISA requirements.

    • Knowledge of Emergency Response Procedures and Crisis Management protocols.

    • Familiarity with Airport Management Systems (DCS, etc.) and MS Office Suite.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Strong leadership and the ability to motivate a diverse team under high-pressure conditions.

    • Exceptional interpersonal skills for conflict resolution and stakeholder collaboration.

    • Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
