Senior Officer, Legal & Police OPS | First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB)

Role Overview 

As a Senior Officer in Legal & Police Operations, you will serve as the critical link between First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and UAE law enforcement, judicial bodies, and regulatory authorities. This role is dedicated to managing high-priority legal requests—such as account freezing, fund blocking, and court-mandated reporting—with absolute precision and integrity. Based in Abu Dhabi, this Emiratised position offers a unique opportunity for UAE Nationals to develop a specialized career at the intersection of banking operations and the UAE legal system.


Key Accountabilities

1. Legal & Police Request Management (Service Excellence)

  • Priority Handling: Execute and prioritize all requests from the Police and UAE Courts, including account blocking/unblocking, amount freezing, and the issuance or cancellation of Manager’s Cheques (MC).

  • Judicial Documentation: Manage the preparation and delivery of Court Letters and Standing Orders (STO) to ensure legal compliance.

  • SLA Governance: Ensure all stakeholder requests are attended to promptly and efficiently, adhering strictly to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) without breaching bank policies.

  • Joint Custodianship: Act as a joint custodian for sensitive bank documents, maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality and security.

2. Operational Risk & Compliance

  • Workflow Integrity: Manage day-to-day operations without compromising risk standards. Identify process gaps to eliminate duplication and mitigate operational risk.

  • System Enhancements: Coordinate with the IT Department (ITD) to implement system changes and enhancements aimed at preventing errors and improving Straight-Through Processing (STP).

  • Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all unit activities are in full compliance with UAE Central Bank regulations, local laws, and FAB’s internal ethics and values.

  • Risk Tools: Utilize checklists, random sampling, and detailed reports to maximize the effectiveness of Risk Management within the Wholesale Operations AMO.

3. Business Efficiency & Continuous Improvement

  • Process Innovation: Recommend policy or process changes to management to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize controls.

  • MIS Reporting: Ensure the generation of timely and accurate Management Information Systems (MIS) reports and statements for departmental review.

  • Sustainability: Contribute to the sustainability of systems and practices by considering global standards and productivity improvements.

4. People & Collaboration

  • Team Synergy: Maintain professional communication and collaboration with internal departments (Legal, ITD, Branches, and Audit) to deliver seamless service.

  • National Talent Support: Provide specific encouragement and support for other UAE National staff, fostering a working environment conducive to long-term career development and motivation.

  • Feedback & Development: Assess the performance of direct reports (where applicable) and provide constructive feedback to support their professional growth.


About You: Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience (Legal experience is highly preferred).

    • Candidates with 1–2 years in Customer Service or Call Centers will be considered.

    • Fresh Graduates: Ambitious UAE National fresh graduates without prior experience are also encouraged to apply.

  • Technical Knowledge:

    • Good understanding of general banking policies and procedures.

    • Familiarity with the UAE legal and regulatory landscape is a significant advantage.

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).

    • High School Diploma as a minimum requirement.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Bilingualism: Excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic.

    • Integrity: Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with full integrity.

    • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze transaction activities and implement standard turnaround times.
