Director, Corporate Lending | Global Corporate Finance (GCF)

Role Overview 

As a Director of Corporate Lending within the Global Corporate Finance (GCF) team, you will be a strategic architect of the bank’s wholesale lending engine. This high-impact role focuses on the origination, structuring, and execution of both Vanilla and complex Structured Finance transactions. You will work at the center of a collaborative ecosystem, partnering with Relationship Managers, Credit Risk teams, and specialized GCF business lines to identify lending opportunities that drive revenue while maintaining First Abu Dhabi Bank’s (FAB) rigorous risk parameters.

Key Accountabilities

1. Deal Origination & Execution

• Structured Solutions: Proactively lead and support the pitching and structuring of diverse transactions, including Leveraged & Acquisition Finance, Project Finance, Asset-Backed Finance, and Real Estate Finance.

• Collaborative Pitching: Partner with Coverage and GCF deal teams to present robust financing solutions to Wholesale Banking clients.

• Negotiation: Lead and assist in negotiating commercial terms with borrowers and syndicate lenders, from initial term sheets through to definitive legal documentation.

2. Technical Analysis & Underwriting

• Financial Modeling: Develop sophisticated financing models featuring comprehensive sensitivity testing and cash flow analysis to ensure transaction robustness.

• Due Diligence: Conduct deep-dive due diligence and prepare independent reports to assess underlying business health and deal viability.

• Credit Assessment: Evaluate deal structures against the bank’s criteria, ensuring that all lending meets internal risk-appetite benchmarks.

3. Portfolio & Strategic Growth

• Portfolio Review: Actively manage the existing loan portfolio and client plans to identify “white space” for new lending or restructuring opportunities.

• Cross-Selling: Contribute to departmental budgets by identifying opportunities for other capital markets products, including DCM, ECM, Securities Services, Global Markets, and Transaction Banking.

• Internal Synergy: Build and maintain high-level internal relations across Coverage and Global Corporate Finance to maximize the bank’s total share of the client’s wallet.

4. Governance & Leadership

• Operational Excellence: Support the development of departmental policies and systems to ensure all legislative and procedural requirements are met cost-effectively.

• Reporting & MIS: Provide timely and accurate inputs for internal management reporting and sub-departmental statements.

• Mentorship: Take a leadership role in developing the next generation of talent by mentoring and training fresh graduates and associates within the team.

About You: Skills & Qualifications

• Experience:

  • 5–10 years of experience in client relationship management and structured financing.

  • Proven exposure to multi-party financing transactions and negotiating complex commercial terms.

  • Preferred: Prior experience working within the UAE or GCC region.

• Technical Mastery:

  • Advanced Credit Assessment skills, including complex cash flow modeling and corporate valuation.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and legal concepts related to loan agreement documentation.

  • Proficiency in developing data-backed financing models with rigorous sensitivity testing.

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related discipline.

  • MBA and/or CFA designation is considered a significant advantage.

• Core Competencies:

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex transactions to stakeholders.

  • Ability to perform under high-pressure, tight timelines, and shifting priorities.

  • Strong relationship-building skills across the organization and with external market participants.
