Consultant Plastic Surgeon

Role Overview

As a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, you are a master of both form and function. Your role spans the critical spectrum of reconstructive surgery—restoring anatomy affected by trauma, congenital defects, or disease—and aesthetic surgery to enhance physical appearance. This position requires a rare combination of elite surgical precision, artistic vision, and the clinical leadership necessary to manage a high-acuity surgical practice. You will be responsible for the entire patient journey, from complex microsurgical planning to meticulous post-operative recovery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Advanced Surgical Performance

  • Reconstructive & Aesthetic Excellence: Lead complex surgical procedures, including microsurgery, tissue transfer, hand surgery, and advanced aesthetic enhancements, prioritizing both functional restoration and optimal cosmetic outcomes.

  • Tailored Surgical Planning: Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments, utilizing advanced imaging and physical examinations to design individualized surgical strategies that align with patient goals.

  • Innovative Techniques: Stay at the forefront of surgical innovation, incorporating minimally invasive techniques and regenerative medicine where appropriate to improve recovery times and scarring outcomes.

2. Clinical Leadership & Team Synergy

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Act as the surgical lead within a high-functioning team, collaborating closely with anesthetists, specialized theater nurses, and wound care experts to ensure 360-degree patient support.

  • Governance & Safety: Oversee clinical audits and safety protocols within the plastic surgery department, maintaining the highest standards of surgical ethics and patient privacy.

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and clinical supervision to junior residents and fellows, fostering the next generation of surgical talent.

3. Patient Advocacy & Education

  • Informed Decision-Making: Educate patients on the full range of surgical and non-surgical options, clearly articulating risks, benefits, and realistic expectations to facilitate informed consent.

  • Post-Operative Management: Lead the post-operative care phase, managing wound healing, scar maturation, and rehabilitation to ensure long-term patient satisfaction.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Surgical Precision: Exceptional manual dexterity and a strong foundation in the core principles of tissue handling and microsurgery.

  • Artistic Vision: An innate understanding of human proportions, symmetry, and the aesthetic nuances of reconstructive work.

  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to solve complex anatomical “puzzles” in trauma or cancer reconstruction cases.

  • Communication: Superior interpersonal skills to manage patient expectations and lead a multidisciplinary surgical team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution with a specialized focus on plastic surgery.

  • Training: Completion of a minimum of 6 years of accredited residency training in plastic surgery, demonstrating advanced clinical competency.

  • Certification: Board Certification in Plastic Surgery from a recognized national or international medical board (e.g., ABPS, FRCS Plast, or equivalent).

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience as a Consultant, with a documented portfolio of successful surgical outcomes.

  • Licensure: Valid medical license and registration to practice as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the relevant jurisdiction (DHA, DOH, or MOH).
