Interior Design Specialist – Materials, Finishes & Specifications | Al Marwan Group

Role Overview Al Marwan Group, a diversified regional leader since 1978, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Interior Design Specialist to join our expanding design team. This specialized role is the backbone of our design-to-procurement pipeline, focusing on the meticulous selection and specification of materials, high-end finishes, sanitaryware, and furniture. You will play a vital role in maintaining design integrity by bridging the gap between creative concepts and technical execution, ensuring that every selection aligns with project budgets, timelines, and the Group’s uncompromising quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Specification & Schedule Development

  • Comprehensive Documentation: Prepare detailed Specification Schedules derived from approved concept designs, high-fidelity renders, and mood boards.

  • Specialized Scheduling: Develop and manage precise schedules for Finishes, Sanitaryware, and Furniture (FF&E) to guide the procurement and construction phases.

  • Selection & Alignment: Curate materials and systems that meet specific project requirements, ensuring aesthetic intent is balanced with functional performance.

Supplier & Sample Management

  • Market Coordination: Communicate directly with global and local suppliers/manufacturers to source catalogs, technical data, and competitive quotations.

  • Sample Lifecycle: Request, review, and track material and furniture samples, managing the approval process to ensure timely submissions for stakeholder review.

  • Database Stewardship: Maintain a robust, updated database of premium materials, furniture systems, and reliable suppliers to streamline future project phases.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Strategic Liaison: Coordinate with procurement, project management, and site teams to ensure seamless material delivery and installation.

  • Value Engineering: Support value engineering initiatives by identifying alternative materials that preserve design intent while optimizing project budgets.

  • Technical Evaluation: Prepare comprehensive comparison sheets and technical evaluations to assist leadership in final selection decisions.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

  • Experience: 2–5 years of relevant experience with a strong focus on materials, finishes, and technical specifications.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Deep technical knowledge of interior finishes, sanitaryware systems, and furniture construction.

    • Proven track record in managing supplier relationships and complex sample libraries.

    • Expertise in preparing professional finishes and FF&E schedules.

  • Software Proficiency: * Advanced skills in AutoCAD and MS Office.

    • Knowledge of Revit is considered a significant advantage.

    • Familiarity with inventory or document management systems is a plus.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously.

    • Strong communication skills to effectively negotiate with vendors and coordinate with internal engineers.
