Lead B1 Certifying Engineer – CAT C | Air Arabia
Role Overview
Air Arabia is seeking a high-caliber Lead B1 Certifying Engineer – CAT C to spearhead aircraft maintenance operations and ensure peak fleet serviceability. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for the approval, monitoring, and implementation of non-routine and deferred maintenance, including strict adherence to MEL and CDL requirements. You will provide critical technical oversight and personnel supervision, ensuring all maintenance tasks are certified to the highest regulatory standards. Beyond technical execution, you will manage operational readiness through effective roster planning and daily coordination with the Maintenance Manager to minimize disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Fleet Airworthiness

Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day maintenance activities, serving as a key support to the Maintenance Manager in maintaining fleet readiness.

Defect Management: Monitor the Fleet Deferred Defect Status in coordination with Maintenance Planning. Ensure all defects are cleared efficiently and cost-effectively.

Restricted Item Tracking: Oversee the correction of MEL, CDL, and ADD restricted items within mandatory time intervals to avoid operational impact.

Status Reporting: Review the fleet’s operational status daily and lead the morning maintenance conference calls to keep leadership informed of any deviations from the plan.
Quality, Safety & Compliance

Certification Excellence: Carry out and certify maintenance work on the Airbus A320 family, ensuring every task meets both Air Arabia and GCAA/Regulatory standards.

Safety Management: Implement the Safety Management System (SMS), reporting all hazards, incidents, or unsafe practices immediately to protect personnel and assets.

Human Factors: Safeguard the continuity of critical maintenance tasks by managing handovers and avoiding task interruptions.

Audit & Inspection: Conduct regular audits of aircraft appearance and interior standards, reporting findings to ensure a premium cabin experience.
Team Management & Resource Optimization

Personnel Supervision: Provide guidance and briefings to Engineers and Technicians, ensuring non-certifying staff are fully equipped to perform assigned tasks.

Roster Administration: Manage shift rosters, including leave and absence planning, to ensure adequate manpower for operational requirements.

Performance Oversight: Monitor staff performance and take responsibility for first-line disciplinary actions when performance does not meet acceptable standards.

Cost Stewardship: Minimize waste of consumables and part repair costs by preventing unnecessary damage and avoiding repeat work.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Licensing & Ratings:
-
Holds a current DAC License B1 (Mechanical) with an A320 Rating.

Must hold company approval for the Airbus A320 with CFM56 engines.

Education & Training:
-
In-depth knowledge of troubleshooting complex aircraft systems (Engines, Hydraulics, and Avionics interfaces).

Comprehensive understanding of SMS (Safety Management System).

Experience:
-
8 years of aircraft maintenance experience specifically on the Airbus A320 family.

5 years of experience in a Line Maintenance environment.

3 years of certifying experience on A320/CFM56 aircraft.

Technical Systems:
-
Full proficiency in AMOS, ETLB, and standard company engineering systems.

Strong command of Microsoft Office for reporting and roster management.

Communication: Exceptional skills for high-level coordination with CAMO, Flight Operations, and regulatory authorities.

Leadership: Proven ability to supervise technical teams and resolve operational issues under pressure.

Analytical Rigor: Ability to identify trends in technical bulletins and safety circulars to update staff accordingly.
