Role Overview 

As the Lead Specialist for Data Science & AI, you will be at the forefront of Ma’aden’s digital transformation, driving the integration of cutting-edge intelligence into the largest multi-commodity mining value chain in the Middle East. You are not just a strategist; you are a hands-on technical leader responsible for building the end-to-end Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions that will power the third pillar of Saudi Arabia’s economy. This role demands a unique blend of architectural vision, MLOps rigor, and the ability to mentor a high-performing team of innovators.

Key Accountabilities

1. Technical Leadership & AI Development

• End-to-End Delivery: Lead the active development of ML, deep learning, and Generative AI solutions, from initial problem framing and data exploration to production-grade deployment.

• GenAI Innovation: Design and implement sophisticated LLM-based applications, specializing in RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines, fine-tuning strategies, and advanced embedding techniques.

• Architecture Ownership: Own the full solution architecture, ensuring that AI models are scalable, efficient, and seamlessly integrated with enterprise systems.

2. Operations & AI Governance

• MLOps & LLMOps: Establish and champion best practices for deployment, automated monitoring, and retraining loops to ensure model performance remains consistent in a dynamic mining environment.

• Safety & Ethics: Define and enforce rigorous evaluation standards, AI guardrails, and safety controls to ensure all solutions comply with responsible AI and data governance standards.

• Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring enterprise-grade stability and security across all AI deployments.

3. Collaboration & Mentorship

• Team Mentorship: Act as a technical beacon for the team, providing hands-on guidance and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

• Cross-Functional Synergy: Collaborate with business units and stakeholders to align AI initiatives with Ma’aden’s strategic growth objectives and operational needs.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate complex AI concepts and project impacts to non-technical leaders, ensuring buy-in and organizational alignment.

About You: Skills & Qualifications

• Experience:

  • 7–9 years of deep experience in Data Science and AI.

  • Proven track record of leading end-to-end ML and Generative AI initiatives at scale.

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise AI deployment and system integration.

• Technical Mastery:

  • AI Architectures: Advanced knowledge of deep learning and LLM design.

  • Orchestration: Expertise in API orchestration and integrating AI models into existing software ecosystems.

  • Cloud Platforms: Proficient in major cloud AI environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

  • System Thinking: Ability to view AI not just as a model, but as a component of a larger, fully integrated value chain.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
