Manager, Data & AI Governance | Ma’aden

Role Overview

As the Manager for Data & AI Governance, you serve as the central authority and strategic architect of Ma’aden’s Data Governance Framework. In this high-visibility role, you are responsible for organizing, administering, and promoting the standards that ensure our data—the lifeblood of our fully integrated mining value chain—is of the highest quality, integrity, and security. You will lead the “Data Governance Operations and Projects” team, working as a bridge between business leaders and technical experts to drive enterprise-wide data maturity and enable the “third pillar” of the Saudi economy to make data-driven decisions with confidence.

Key Accountabilities

1. Strategic Governance & Framework Leadership

Framework Stewardship: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Ma’aden’s Data Governance Framework, ensuring it evolves with the company’s rapid growth.
Governance Operations: Oversee daily operations and strategic projects, including policy enforcement, compliance monitoring, and high-level stakeholder engagement.
Council Leadership: Chair the Data Governance Council, coordinating the efforts of Data Stewards, Data Owners, and Data Champions across the organization.

2. Compliance, Security & Quality

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all data practices strictly adhere to regulatory requirements, specifically the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), NDMO standards, and other relevant data protection frameworks.
Data Integrity: Monitor and report on critical Data Quality metrics and Governance KPIs, ensuring that the information used for AI and analytics is accurate and trusted.
Information Architecture: Support and drive initiatives for metadata management, comprehensive data cataloging, and transparent data lineage tracking.

3. Change Management & Culture

Organizational Change: Lead the cultural shift toward data maturity by facilitating change management for new policies and processes across all business units.
Education & Mentorship: Deliver training and awareness programs to embed data governance best practices into the company’s DNA, mentoring junior staff and departmental champions.
Strategic Alignment: Collaborate closely with technical and business stakeholders to ensure that governance initiatives directly support Ma’aden’s enterprise objectives.

About You: Skills & Qualifications

Professional Experience:
- 8–10 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Enterprise Information Management.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale governance programs in complex, high-stakes organizations.
- Strong experience influencing cross-functional teams and driving enterprise-wide cultural change.
Technical Mastery:
- Tooling Expertise: Deep understanding of industry-standard governance tools (e.g., Informatica, Microsoft Purview).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Intimate familiarity with NDMO, data privacy regulations, and international compliance frameworks.
- Analytical Prowess: Ability to use data insights to inform governance decisions and measure maturity progress.
Education & Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
- Highly Preferred: Professional certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or DCAM.
Core Competencies:
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to link technical governance to broad business strategy.
- Leadership: The authority to inspire teams and the integrity to uphold high ethical standards.
