Principal Specialist, Enterprise Architecture | Ma’aden

Role Overview

As the Principal Specialist for Enterprise Architecture, you will be the bridge between high-level vision and technical execution. Reporting to the Enterprise Architecture Director, your mission is to ensure that Ma’aden’s massive digital and industrial transformation remains cohesive, interoperable, and scalable. You will translate enterprise-wide principles into practical domain and solution architectures across IT, OT, Data, and AI. This is a role for a systems thinker who excels at integration and design assurance, ensuring that the “third pillar” of the Saudi economy is built on a robust and future-proof technological foundation.

Key Accountabilities

1. Architectural Translation & Guidance

  • Vision into Action: Translate the broad enterprise architecture vision and roadmaps into actionable, high-precision guidance for domain, platform, and solution architects.

  • Standard Maintenance: Contribute to the evolution of enterprise architecture principles, ensuring reference architectures remain relevant in a rapidly changing mining and tech landscape.

  • Consistency Oversight: Ensure that designs for Data, AI, OT (Operational Technology), and core systems are not built in silos but align strictly with defined enterprise standards.

2. Governance & Risk Management

  • Design Assurance: Participate in high-level architecture reviews and the Architecture Review Board (ARB) to validate that new solutions meet enterprise requirements.

  • Technical Debt Mitigation: Actively identify and escalate risks related to platform fragmentation, system duplication, or unmanaged technical debt.

  • Compliance: Ensure all technological investments follow the “governance-by-design” principle, protecting Ma’aden’s long-term architectural integrity.

3. Integration & Interoperability

  • OT-IT Synergy: Support end-to-end interoperability across complex environments, specifically bridging the gap between corporate IT cloud platforms and remote mining site OT systems.

  • Pattern Application: Apply defined integration patterns and reference architectures to ensure that solutions are scalable, reusable, and cost-effective.

  • Cross-Domain Collaboration: Act as a central point of coordination between engineering delivery teams and the enterprise architecture office.

4. Documentation & Communication

  • Artifact Ownership: Develop and maintain a rigorous library of architecture artifacts, including system diagrams, interface standards, and design guidelines.

  • Stakeholder Influence: Clearly communicate complex architectural decisions, trade-offs, and constraints to both technical specialists and non-technical business leaders.

About You: Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional Experience:

    • 8–12 years of experience in solution, domain, or enterprise architecture roles.

    • Proven experience working within large-scale, complex technology environments.

    • Preferred: Direct exposure to industrial, mining, or asset-intensive environments.

  • Technical Mastery:

    • Deep understanding of modern enterprise platforms (Azure/Cloud, Data Lakehouse, Integration Hubs).

    • Strong grasp of OT systems and the unique constraints of industrial data.

    • Expertise in integration patterns, interoperability concepts, and architecture governance frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Systems Thinking: The ability to visualize and manage the impacts of a single change across multiple domains.

    • Collaborative Leadership: A trusted partner who can guide engineering teams while upholding strict enterprise standards.
