Role Overview  


Air Arabia is seeking a highly skilled Sheet Metal Engineer to lead and certify critical structural maintenance for our fleet and third-party aircraft. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical oversight of shop activities, ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft structures through precise repairs, modifications, and inspections. You will hold the authority to issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) for structural parts, ensuring every task complies with GCAA/EASA regulations and airline safety standards. This position is vital for maintaining the structural integrity of our aircraft while driving cost-effective and efficient shop operations.


Key Responsibilities

Structural Maintenance & Certification

  • Technical Execution: Perform and certify both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft structures, including advanced repairs, testing, and replacements.

  • Release Authority: Issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) for structural components after verifying that all work meets stringent regulatory and organizational standards.

  • Operational Planning: Review task cards and work instructions to plan and allocate shop activities, ensuring a streamlined and compliant workflow.

  • Diagnostic Leadership: Investigate complex technical issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring structural defects, coordinating with Engineering and Quality Assurance for long-term solutions.

Team Supervision & Resource Management

  • Technical Guidance: Supervise and mentor certifying and shop technicians, ensuring all structural tasks are executed to the highest industry standards.

  • Documentation & Traceability: Maintain meticulous records of maintenance actions, defect findings, and parts usage within the system to ensure full regulatory traceability.

  • Shop Readiness: Oversee the availability of specialized tools, shop stock, and equipment, ensuring they are maintained and calibrated for operational demands.

  • Cost Control: Manage resource utilization to minimize waste and ensure the cost-effective delivery of structural maintenance packages.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Safety Enforcement: Maintain strict adherence to safety precautions and human factors principles to protect personnel and equipment during high-stakes structural work.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with Technical Procurement, QA, and Engineering teams to ensure seamless component availability and on-time delivery.

  • Process Enhancement: Contribute to the improvement of shop practices and maintenance procedures to enhance fleet reliability and operational compliance.

  • Leadership Support: Act as a deputy for the Shop Supervisor or Lead Engineer when required.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Structural/Airframe) or an equivalent technical discipline.

  • Mandatory Certification: OEM or equivalent certification for Sheet Metal parts is strictly required.

  • Experience: * Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with a strong preference for Airbus types.

    • At least 2 years in a certifying or supervisory capacity within a structural maintenance environment.

  • Technical Mastery:

    • In-depth knowledge of aircraft structural maintenance, applicable global regulations, and safety standards.

    • Expert troubleshooting, inspection, and diagnostic skills for airframe components.

    • Proficient in using Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) software for component tracking and documentation.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Decision-Making: Strong ability to make critical technical decisions under time constraints.

    • Communication: Effective coordination and stakeholder management skills.

    • Physical Capability: Physically fit and capable of working in various conditions, including confined spaces and outdoor environments.

    • Agility: Ability to work in rostered shifts based on the airline’s operational needs.
