Technical Support Engineer | Al-Futtaim Automotive | FAMCO
Role Overview FAMCO (Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Co.) is seeking a high-caliber Technical Support Engineer to serve as the definitive technical authority for our commercial vehicle brands. In this critical aftersales role, you will act as the primary liaison between our workshop network, the technical management team, and brand principals. You will be responsible for diagnosing complex mechanical and electronic faults, ensuring a high “first-time fix” rate, and minimizing vehicle downtime for our partners. This position requires a sophisticated blend of hands-on diagnostic expertise and the ability to translate complex technical data into actionable service bulletins and training for our field teams.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Diagnostics & Field Support

Expert Troubleshooting: Provide high-level diagnostic support to workshops for engine, transmission, braking, and advanced ECU systems, focusing on reducing repeat repairs.

On-Site & Remote Assistance: Support field teams via remote diagnostics or on-site visits to resolve high-priority faults within strict SLA timelines.

New Energy Vehicles: Lead the improvement of customer service and technical readiness for EV and PHEV models through close inter-departmental coordination.
OEM Liaison & Escalation

Manufacturer Relations: Liaise directly with brand principals and OEMs for technical queries, product escalations, and the shipment of failed parts for forensic analysis.

Product Improvement: Monitor recurring technical issues and provide critical feedback to manufacturers to drive future product enhancements.

Software & Tooling: Coordinate essential software updates and ensure all service locations have access to specialized tools, technical literature, and the latest service bulletins.
Warranty & Compliance

Claim Validation: Review and validate warranty claims to ensure technical accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance, maintaining a high approval rate from the manufacturer.

Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports on new vehicle concerns and resolution methods, conducting weekly reviews with the Technical Manager.
Training & Knowledge Leadership

Capacity Building: Conduct technical training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops for service staff to elevate the department’s overall technical competence.

Service Culture: Promote a culture of quality and operational efficiency, assisting management with customer-focused decisions to maintain a premium experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience in vehicle diagnostics or technical support, specifically within the commercial vehicle or heavy machinery sector.

Technical Proficiency:

Deep understanding of CAN bus systems, vehicle electronics, and onboard diagnostics (OBD).

Proficiency in using OEM-specific diagnostic platforms and service portals.

Expert ability to interpret complex technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and fault codes.
