Track & Alignment Lead
The Role
Based in Dubai, you will serve as the technical and production head for the Permanent Way (Track & Alignment) discipline. Reporting to the General Manager or Technical Director, you will take full ownership of end-to-end design delivery—from concept to detailed construction documents. You will lead a multidisciplinary coordination effort, manage a local team of engineers and BIM technicians, and act as a key technical advisor for major rail projects across the MENA region.
Key Responsibilities
-
Technical Production Leadership: Lead the design of horizontal and vertical alignments, track geometry, turnouts, switches, and complex yard layouts.
-
Multidisciplinary Coordination: Act as the primary interface lead, ensuring track designs align seamlessly with civil structures, stations, depots, OCS (Overhead Catenary Systems), and signaling.
-
Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and manage a local delivery team of engineers and CAD/BIM draftsmen, overseeing productivity, quality, and strict deadline compliance.
-
Bid & Growth Support: Contribute to the firm’s expansion by defining project scopes, methodologies, and resource estimates during the bidding phase.
-
Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Implement rigorous technical governance, conducting independent checks and internal reviews to ensure all submissions meet international and local standards.
-
Stakeholder Management: Present technical solutions to clients and non-technical stakeholders, and coordinate directly with local authorities and operators to secure design approvals.
Competencies & Skills
-
Expert Track Design: Mastery of track geometry development, depot planning, and renewal/upgrade design.
-
Lifecycle Mastery: Deep understanding of design deliverables, from tender documentation to execution packages.
-
Leadership: Proven ability to delegate, plan resources in a multi-project environment, and maintain client confidence under pressure.
-
Software Proficiency: Experience with industry-standard tools such as Bentley MicroStation, Power Rail Track, OpenRail, or AutoCAD. Exposure to BIM (Revit) workflows is a significant advantage.
Requirements
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Railway Engineering.
-
Experience: 10–15 years in rail infrastructure, with at least 5 years of current/recent experience in the KSA/MENA market.
-
Seniority: Demonstrated history as a Discipline Lead responsible for production, planning, and high-level technical review.
-
Market Knowledge: Familiarity with the engineering consultancy or major contractor environment within the GCC.
Visualizing Track & Alignment Coordination
In large-scale rail projects, the Track & Alignment Lead ensures that the “Permanent Way” respects the constraints of all other disciplines.
Strategic Tips for Your Application
-
Highlight the “Brownfield” Experience: The “Additional Advantage” section mentions complex brownfield interfaces and capacity upgrades. If you have worked on expanding existing metro lines or upgrading active depots, make this a centerpiece of your CV.
-
Focus on KSA/MENA Standards: Since 5 years of regional experience is required, mention your familiarity with specific regional operators (e.g., SAR in Saudi Arabia, Etihad Rail in the UAE, or Dubai Metro/RTA).
-
BIM Integration: ARX is pushing “digital innovation.” Emphasize your experience with ProjectWise or BIM 360 for multidisciplinary coordination. Being able to show how track design integrates into a 3D federated model is crucial.
-
The “Glocal” Mindset: ARX values the balance of global best practices with local know-how. Mention how you have adapted international rail standards (like Eurocodes or AREMA) to the specific climatic and soil conditions of the Middle East.
Why ARX?
You will be joining a “synergistic” network that spans the globe, working on the projects that are currently defining the future of Middle Eastern infrastructure. ARX offers a home for visionaries where professional growth is tailored to your specific career aspirations.
Would you like me to help you draft a “Project Highlights” section for your CV that showcases your leadership in multidisciplinary rail interfaces?
