Senior Development Lead (Platform & Mobile)

The Senior Development Lead is a pivotal leadership role responsible for guiding a multidisciplinary team to build a next-generation digital loyalty platform. Reporting directly to the CTO, this position balances hands-on technical contribution with people leadership and Agile delivery. You will foster a culture of transparency, psychological safety, and innovation while collaborating with global teams across Australia and international time zones.

Role Evolution

Initial Phase: Primarily hands-on technical contribution, acting as a solo developer to establish the technical foundation and engineering best practices.
Growth Phase: Transitioning to an 80/20 split between people/delivery leadership and hands-on coding as the team expands.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Engineering

Hands-on Development: Contribute high-quality code across Laravel (Backend), React (Frontend), and Flutter (Mobile).
Architecture: Advocate for an API-first approach and oversee integrations with GCP, Snowflake, and third-party hospitality POS systems.
DevOps Culture: Champion CI/CD practices and collaborate with implementation teams to streamline deployments, ensuring scalability and security.
Risk Management: Proactively identify technical bottlenecks and collaborate on mitigation strategies.

People & Agile Delivery

Team Mentorship: Coach and develop a cross-functional pod (Mobile, Web, Backend, and QA), encouraging autonomy and creative problem-solving.
Scrum Mastery: Lead agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure iterative delivery.
Process Optimization: Refine agile workflows to improve team velocity, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Stakeholder & Global Collaboration

Communication Bridge: Translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for CX, Product, Marketing, Data, and Operations teams.
Time Zone Management: Drive global collaboration by maintaining clear documentation and scheduling overlapping meetings across regions.
Reporting: Measure and report on key outcomes, including feature delivery cadence, platform performance, and customer adoption.

Skills & Requirements

Leadership Experience: Proven track record leading cross-platform teams, ideally within a startup or scale-up environment.
Technical Stack: Strong background in Laravel, React, and Flutter. Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and modern CI/CD pipelines is essential.
Architectural Vision: Ability to balance short-term delivery needs with long-term platform scalability.
Communication: Exceptional ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences.
