Pharmacist II – Inpatient Services (Amana Healthcare / M42)
Amana Healthcare, a leader in long-term care and post-acute rehabilitation within the M42 network, is seeking a highly clinical and dedicated Pharmacist II. This role is essential for managing complex medication therapy for patients in extended recovery, focusing on safety, precision, and evidence-based clinical outcomes.
As an Inpatient Pharmacist, you will go beyond traditional dispensing, actively participating in multidisciplinary rounds, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and advanced Sterile IV Compounding to support the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Pharmacy & Medication Management

Prescription Vigilance: Review, verify, and dispense inpatient medications while ensuring strict compliance with DOH, JCI, and organizational standards.

Therapeutic Optimization: Identify and resolve medication-related issues, including drug-drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, contraindications, and adverse drug reactions (ADRs).

Dose Adjustments: Perform critical clinical calculations for renal and hepatic dose adjustments to ensure patient safety in complex recovery cases.

Clinical Collaboration: Partner with physicians and nursing teams during medication reconciliation, profile reviews, and therapeutic monitoring.
Specialized Pharmaceutical Services

Antimicrobial Stewardship (ASP): Contribute to the ASP by advising on appropriate antimicrobial selection, de-escalation strategies, and IV-to-oral conversions in line with local guidelines.

Sterile Compounding: Prepare, label, and verify sterile intravenous (IV) admixtures and other compounded preparations using rigorous aseptic techniques.

High-Alert Safety: Implement and monitor safety protocols for Look-Alike Sound-Alike (LASA) and high-alert medications to prevent clinical errors.
Patient Advocacy & Education

Clinical Counseling: Provide comprehensive counseling to patients and caregivers regarding dosing, precautions, potential side effects, and safe medication storage.

Continuous Care: Ensure the timely and continuous supply of medications to support uninterrupted inpatient rehabilitation.
Operational Excellence & Compliance

Inventory Integrity: Maintain proper storage conditions, monitor expiry dates, and ensure the pharmacy environment meets all regulatory hygiene and security standards.

Documentation: Accurately record all pharmacy interventions, clinical activities, and compounding logs for audit readiness.

Professional Development: Stay at the forefront of inpatient pharmacotherapy through ongoing training and competency assessments.
Required Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.

Licensing: Must hold a valid Pharmacist License from the DOH (Abu Dhabi).

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in an inpatient or hospital pharmacy setting.

Proven experience in sterile IV compounding and aseptic techniques is essential.

Experience in long-term care or rehabilitation settings is highly desirable.
