Program Manager – MRO Programs | Qatar Airways

Role Overview 

As the Program Manager for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) Programs, you are a strategic catalyst for operational excellence within one of the world’s leading aviation groups. You are responsible for developing and executing high-level strategies that ensure Qatar Airways receives maximum value from its MRO portfolio. Acting as a specialized change agent, you will bridge the gap between complex engineering requirements and corporate financial goals, driving digital transformation and process optimization to ensure the fleet remains at the pinnacle of safety and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Management

  • Strategy Development: Interface with senior management to design and implement comprehensive MRO strategies aligned with the airline’s financial and operational mandates.

  • Value Optimization: Assess portfolio performance to ensure the best value for the company, balancing cost reduction with uncompromising service standards.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing team, setting clear directions and fostering a culture of teamwork, compliance, and professional excellence.

2. Operational Accountabilities & Intelligence

  • Business Intelligence: Orchestrate the delivery of advanced BI dashboards to extract patterns and insights from large datasets, enabling data-driven decision-making.

  • Process Mapping: Conduct Value Stream assessments to identify gaps, remove manual work, and maximize functional efficiency across the MRO lifecycle.

  • Project Execution: Lead medium-to-large scale cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing speed and value, while building healthy relationships with global stakeholders.

3. Service Delivery & Governance

  • Standardization: Provide guidance on the implementation of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operating Level Agreements (OLAs) to ensure internal service foundations are robust.

  • Compliance & Audit: Prepare and manage Action Plans for Internal Audit observations, ensuring timely responses and trend-aligned corrective actions.

  • Process Controls: Ensure core policy compliance and process controls are in place to mitigate risk and improve overall service transparency.

4. Change Management & Innovation

  • Digital Transformation: Apply cutting-edge digital and technology solutions to remove manual intervention and improve control mechanisms.

  • Continuous Improvement: Introduce high-quality, scalable, and flexible processes built to drive down operational costs while enhancing the service experience.

  • Organizational Dynamics: Act as an expert in change management, supporting middle management through complex organizational transitions and engagement strategies.


About You: Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mastery: Exceptional ability to compile and analyze vast amounts of data to identify operational patterns and extract relevant insights.

  • Influence & Negotiation: Outstanding capabilities in negotiation and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Ambiguity Management: Comfortable navigating both high-level strategic planning and “hands-on” operational activities.

  • Leadership Prowess: Strong mentoring and coaching skills with a proven track record of delegating work and managing complex workflows.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: * Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of job-related experience; OR

    • High School/Vocational Qualification/Diploma with a minimum of 9 years of job-related experience.

  • Expertise: Proven track record in leading large-scale projects and implementing change management frameworks.

  • Communication: Structured and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex MRO themes to non-technical stakeholders.
