Customs and Regulatory Affairs Manager – DHL Express (Sri Lanka)

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

As the Customs and Regulatory Affairs Manager, you will be the primary guardian of our compliance framework. You will ensure that our “Insanely Customer Centric” culture is supported by seamless, legal, and efficient cross-border movements, managing the complex intersection of international trade law and operational speed.

Strategic Advocacy & Relationship Management

  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the direct point of contact for all regulatory bodies that influence DHL Express business outcomes.

  • Policy Influence: Represent DHL in high-level regulatory forums and trade bodies. You will negotiate, lobby, and provide technical expertise to help formulate policies that benefit the logistics industry and our customers.

  • Efficiency Initiatives: Identify and prioritize initiatives to enhance operating efficiencies by streamlining regulatory bottlenecks.

Compliance & Risk Mitigation

  • Legislative Oversight: Ensure every aspect of customs clearance within the country is in 100% compliance with current customs legislation.

  • Proactive Monitoring: Stay ahead of the curve by identifying changes in statutory regulations before they impact the business.

  • Risk Communication: Mitigate business risks for both DHL and our customers by clearly communicating regulatory shifts and their operational implications to internal stakeholders.


Do you have what it takes?

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.

  • Professional Experience: * A minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in customs compliance, logistics, freight forwarding, or import/export operations.

    • Proven track record of managing relationships with government and regulatory authorities.

  • Technical Expertise: * Deep, authoritative knowledge of national customs regulations, tariff classifications, and global trade compliance standards.

    • Sharp analytical skills to interpret complex legal and regulatory texts into operational requirements.

  • Core Competencies: * Exceptional negotiation and diplomatic skills.

    • Ability to thrive and maintain accuracy in a high-pressure, fast-paced global logistics environment.

    • Strong leadership presence to represent the brand in external industry forums.
