Database Administrator

Role Purpose We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and secure our mission-critical data environments. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of database management—from installation and patching to complex performance tuning and cloud integration. This role requires a “security-first” mindset and the ability to support diverse database engines (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) across both on-premises and cloud infrastructures (OCI/AWS).

Key Responsibilities

Database Lifecycle & Administration

Installation & Upgrades: Perform hands-on installation, configuration, and upgrades of Oracle (CDB/Non-CDB), MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL environments.
Migration & Patching: Execute seamless database migrations and critical security patching across Oracle Linux, Red Hat, and Windows platforms.
High Availability: Configure and manage Oracle Data Guard to ensure maximum uptime and robust disaster recovery capabilities.

Performance Tuning & Monitoring

Diagnostics: Proactively monitor database health using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), analyzing AWR, ADDM, and ASH reports to identify bottlenecks.
Optimization: Lead database performance tuning and optimization efforts to ensure high-speed data processing and system efficiency.
Cloud Management: Administer and optimize Oracle databases hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Security, Backup & Compliance

Data Protection: Execute comprehensive backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN and expdp/impdp (Data Pump).
Security Standards: Proactively maintain and enforce database security controls, access permissions, and encryption standards.
License Governance: Monitor usage to ensure strict compliance with Oracle license agreements.

Development & Collaboration

Engineering Support: Collaborate closely with application developers to optimize queries and provide architectural guidance.
Database Programming: Demonstrate strong writing skills in PL/SQL, developing efficient procedures, packages, and views to support business logic.

Requirements

Education & Tenure

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent technical field.
Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in a DBA capacity or similar database engineering role.

Technical Competencies

Multi-Engine Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
Operating Systems: Strong command of Linux (Oracle/Red Hat) and Windows Server environments.
Tooling: Expert knowledge of RMAN, Data Pump, and Oracle performance diagnostic tools (AWR/ASH).
Cloud Literacy: Proven ability to manage managed and unmanaged database services in OCI and AWS.
