Senior Solution Architect

Role Overview 

The Senior Solution Architect is a critical technical leader responsible for defining and delivering high-level architectural designs that solve complex business challenges. This role ensures that every solution not only meets immediate functional requirements but also aligns with the established standards and the defined future-state enterprise IT landscape. You will act as the primary bridge between business strategy and technical execution, ensuring that the organization’s application portfolio is optimized, scalable, and resilient.

Key Responsibilities

1. IT Landscape & Portfolio Optimization

  • Baseline Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of the existing domain IT landscape to identify inefficiencies or technical debt.

  • Portfolio Optimization: Lead application portfolio optimization efforts, performing gap analysis to determine which systems should be retained, replaced, or retired.

  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure that all proposed solutions move the organization closer to its target-state architecture.

2. Multi-Dimensional Architectural Design

  • Viewpoint Creation: Develop comprehensive architectural views, including:

    • Logical & Conceptual: High-level functional structuring and data flow.

    • Development & Execution: Frameworks, languages, and runtime environments.

    • Infrastructure & Operations: Deployment models, cloud services, and monitoring strategies.

  • Blueprinting: Provide detailed technical blueprints that serve as the “single source of truth” for development and implementation teams.

3. Stakeholder Orchestration & Collaboration

  • Requirements Prioritization: Collaborate deeply with business leaders, project managers, and technical teams to distill and prioritize complex requirements.

  • Technical Advocacy: Act as a subject matter expert during project steering committees, ensuring that architectural integrity is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Agile Integration: Work closely with development squads to resolve architectural blockers and ensure smooth delivery.

4. Innovation & Thought Leadership

  • Technology Exploration: Proactively research and recommend new products, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions that drive competitive advantage.

  • Knowledge Contribution: Contribute to the broader industry and internal communities by authoring white papers, technical articles, and building a robust internal knowledge base.

  • Continuous Learning: Maintain a rigorous schedule of knowledge up-gradation to stay ahead of market trends and technological shifts.

Skill Requirements

  • Architectural Frameworks: Expert proficiency in creating multi-tier architectures and utilizing frameworks such as TOGAF or C4 models.

  • Technical Depth: Hands-on experience with modern integration patterns (Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, APIs) and cloud-native services (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Analytical Reasoning: Exceptional ability to perform complex gap analyses and trade-off assessments between competing technical solutions.

  • Communication & Influence: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence C-suite stakeholders and guide diverse engineering teams.

Other Requirements

  • Professional Tenure: Significant experience in a solution or enterprise architecture role, ideally within a large-scale or multi-national environment.

  • Project Governance: Solid understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and how architecture integrates into the SDLC.

  • Problem Solving: A proven track record of resolving high-level technical conflicts and leading recovery efforts for stalled technical initiatives.

  • Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
