We are seeking a high-impact IT Business Development Leader to spearhead the attraction of global technology firms, FinTechs, and Global Capability Centers (GCCs) to the Colombo Port City Special Economic Zone (CPCSEZ). In this pivotal role, you will define the value proposition for the IT sector, leveraging deep industry insights and an extensive international network to position the SEZ as the premier digital hub in South Asia. You will act as a strategic advisor to tech giants and startups alike, facilitating their end-to-end entry into a world-class regulatory environment.

The Role: Digital Economy Strategy & Investment Facilitation

As a Senior Manager/Manager, you will drive the digital transformation of the SEZ by converting global IT trends into anchored investments and operational hubs.

• Strategic Propositioning: Define and refine sub-sector propositions (e.g., FinTech, EdTech, SaaS, and AI) based on rigorous research of global digital shifts and regional competitive landscapes.

• Relationship Management: Develop and leverage strategic partnerships with local and foreign tech entities, industry bodies, and venture capital networks to facilitate high-value partnerships.

• End-to-End Investment Advisory: Lead sector-specific investment cycles, providing proactive solutions to investor concerns and assisting with the development of offshore business models.

• International Market Penetration: Implement industry-specific strategies to enter key markets, including leading international roadshows and representing the CPCSEZ at global tech forums.

• Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and present complex business development plans and promotional strategies to senior management and government regulators.

• Deal Negotiation: Orchestrate the negotiation and closing of contracts and commercial agreements with prospective global technology investors.

Your Profile

We are looking for a tech-savvy strategist who combines a consultant’s analytical depth with the aggressive growth mindset required to scale a digital ecosystem.

• Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of experience in the IT sector, specifically within strategy, consulting, or business development.

• Domain Expertise: Proven track record with IT Global Delivery Models, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), FinTech, and EdTech.

• Regional Focus: Preferred exposure to multinational services businesses and a deep understanding of the Indian IT sector and international digital markets.

• Technical & Regulatory Knowledge: A sound understanding of tax, regulatory, and legal environments related to digital exports and special economic zones.

• Key Skills:

  • Exceptional at client-facing roles, with a proven ability to negotiate and close complex deals.

  • Strong background in building and managing high-level professional networks.

  • Excellent communication skills for pitching to C-suite technology executives.

• Mobility: Must be available and willing to undertake international travel as required.
