Security Engineer – Cloud & DevSecOps | Abu Dhabi Family Office

Role Overview

On behalf of a prestigious Family Office in Abu Dhabi, Charterhouse is seeking a Security Engineer for their Product Support & Design Division. This role is designed for a technical practitioner who views security as an engineering challenge rather than a checklist. You will be responsible for the end-to-end security posture of high-performance, cloud-native environments, ensuring that “secure-by-default” is not just a philosophy, but a functional reality embedded within every line of code and every infrastructure deployment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cloud & Infrastructure Hardening

Architectural Governance: Design and operate layered security architectures primarily on AWS, implementing strict policy guardrails and identity controls.
Systems Security: Harden Linux-based systems and containerized environments to minimize attack surfaces.
Edge Protection: Configure and manage WAF and CDN protections to defend against distributed threats and application-layer attacks.

2. DevSecOps & Supply Chain Integrity

Pipeline Integration: Embed security controls natively into Git-based CI/CD pipelines, automating security at the speed of development.
Software Supply Chain: Govern the integrity of the software supply chain through artifact controls and the management of Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs).
Automated Tooling: Integrate and tune SAST, DAST, and SCA tools into development workflows to catch vulnerabilities early in the SDLC.

3. Detection, Response & Forensics

Telemetry Pipelines: Build and maintain telemetry pipelines that feed into SIEM systems for real-time detection, alerting, and behavioral analysis.
Incident Leadership: Lead the incident response lifecycle—from initial triage and containment to deep-dive root-cause analysis and digital forensics.

4. Application Security & AI Risk

Secure Coding: Provide practical, hands-on secure coding guidance to engineering teams through threat modeling and manual code reviews.
LLM Security: Evaluate risks within agentic and LLM-integrated systems, applying the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs to protect emerging AI workloads.

About You: Skills & Competencies

Automation First: Proficient in Python, Golang, or JavaScript to build custom security tooling and automation scripts.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Hands-on experience securing deployments managed via Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
Analytical Mindset: Ability to conduct complex threat modeling and translate theoretical risks into engineered mitigations.
Framework Fluency: Practical knowledge of OWASP, NIST, and CIS benchmarks applied to real-world production environments.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Security Engineering, AppSec, or DevSecOps, with a track record of delivering engineered controls at scale.
AI/LLM Awareness: A solid working understanding of LLM security principles and the unique risks associated with generative AI.
Preferred Certifications: * Cloud: AWS Certified Security Specialty or CKS.
- Offensive/AppSec: OSCP, OSWE.
- Defense/Incident Response: GCSA, GCIA, GCIH, or other GIAC certifications.
