Automation Architect | Infosys Quality Engineering | QE Strategy & Platform Engineering

Role Overview

As an Automation Architect within the Infosys Quality Engineering service line, you will be the technical visionary responsible for defining the future of quality at scale. This role transcends traditional testing; you will design the QE reference architecture, industrialize automation through modern DevOps practices, and engineer cloud-native validation strategies for distributed systems. You are expected to bridge the gap between complex engineering risks and executive-level strategy, ensuring that quality is a built-in feature of the product lifecycle rather than an afterthought.

Key Accountabilities

1. Architecture & Strategic Frameworks

QE Reference Architecture: Define and own the comprehensive architecture for UI, API, Mobile, and Non-functional testing, ensuring alignment with product and platform roadmaps.
Framework Engineering: Design modular, scalable frameworks using Java + Selenium (utilizing Page Object, Screenplay, or Component models), with extensibility into Playwright, REST Assured, and Contract Testing (Pact).
Shift-Left Excellence: Establish the test pyramid and quality gates, integrating service virtualization and Test Data Management (TDM) to enable early and continuous validation.

2. DevOps & Platform Engineering

Industrialized Execution: Leverage Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps to automate parallel execution via Selenium Grid, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Observability & Metrics: Implement advanced test observability using structured logs, trace IDs, and custom Grafana/Allure dashboards to provide real-time quality insights.
Stability Governance: Drive rigorous flaky test governance, implementing quarantine lanes, retry heuristics, and stability SLOs to maintain pipeline integrity.

3. Cloud & Modern Distributed Systems

Cloud-Native Testing: Architect execution strategies on AWS/Azure/GCP and manage cross-browser/device coverage via BrowserStack or Sauce Labs.
Distributed Validation: Validate event-driven architectures (Kafka), microservices, and serverless components through resilience and chaos testing.
Modern Deployment Gates: Integrate validation for feature flags and blue-green/canary deployments into pre-production quality gates.

4. Non-Functional & Specialized Quality

Performance & Reliability: Establish baselines using JMeter or Gatling, focusing on capacity modeling and strict SLA/SLO adherence.
Security & Accessibility: Embed security hooks (OWASP, ZAP/Burp) and accessibility audits (WCAG) directly into the automated delivery pipeline.

5. Leadership & Technical Consulting

Mentorship: Run architecture reviews and coach SDETs, building a robust internal Community of Practice (CoP) for Quality Engineering.
Client Partnering: Support RFPs and client workshops, translating complex technical risks into executive-ready remediation plans and strategic narratives.

Technical & Professional Requirements

Experience: Proven track record in defining enterprise-level architecture and leading large-scale automation transformations.
Core Technical Stack:
- Languages & Automation: Expert-level Java, Selenium, Playwright, and REST Assured.
- DevOps Tools: CI/CD (Jenkins/Azure DevOps), Docker, Kubernetes, and SonarQube.
- API & Integration: Deep knowledge of REST/SOAP, Webservices, and Postman.
Testing Methodologies: Mastery of Agile Testing, Risk-Based Testing (RBT), and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) patterns.
Education: Bachelor of Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech).

Preferred Skills

Architecture: Holistic understanding of software architecture patterns and Quality of Service (QoS) parameters.
Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud-native test execution and managed device clouds.
Emerging Patterns: Knowledge of Contract Testing, Service Virtualization, and Chaos Engineering.
