Role Overview

As an Automation Consultant within the Infosys Quality Engineering service line, you will be the technical visionary responsible for designing and delivering high-performance automation ecosystems. This role is built for a strategic leader who goes beyond simple script execution to architect “best-fit” frameworks and tools. You will provide the technical leadership necessary to drive testing excellence, leveraging deep architectural principles to ensure scalability, maintainability, and reusability across global client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Architecture & Design

Framework Engineering: Architect and build custom, best-fit automation frameworks and tools tailored to specific technology stacks and business needs.
Architectural Governance: Apply rigorous architecture principles (methodologies, patterns, and QoS) to ensure testing solutions are high-performing, scalable, and reusable.
Technical Leadership: Define the strategic direction for testing automation, acting as a consultant to both internal teams and client stakeholders.

Innovation & Thought Leadership

Technology Differentiation: Drive competitive advantage by contributing innovative solution designs to new proposals and strategic pursuits.
Emerging Tech Exploration: Stay ahead of industry trends in areas such as Blockchain, AR/VR, Low-Code/No-Code (LCNC), and Quantum Computing to identify their impact on quality engineering.
Industry Presence: (Preferred for Senior Roles) Act as a thought leader by publishing whitepapers or presenting at industry forums to showcase Infosys’ expertise in testing technology.

Technical Execution

Project Oversight: Guide the implementation of automated testing across various layers, including Functional, API, and Performance testing.
Agile Integration: Seamlessly integrate automation into Agile and DevOps pipelines to facilitate continuous testing and rapid delivery.

Technical & Professional Requirements

Core Automation Stack

Framework Design: Expert-level mastery of Test Automation Framework Design.
Modern Tooling: Deep hands-on experience with Playwright (TypeScript) and Java-based automation.
API Testing: Proficient in Postman and RestAssured for Web Services/RESTful API validation.
Foundational Tech: Strong proficiency in Java/J2EE and a solid understanding of Microsoft technologies.

Professional Competencies

Methodologies: Advanced knowledge of Agile Testing practices and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Consulting Mindset: Excellent logical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex client requirements.
Education: Bachelor of Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech).

Preferred Skills & Domain Focus

Primary Skill: Functionality Testing & End-to-End Automated Testing.
Full-Stack Awareness: Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams to align quality engineering with business growth and profitability.
