Senior Manager / Manager – Business Development (Financial Services)

We are seeking a high-impact Business Development Leader to spearhead investment attraction for the Colombo Port City Special Economic Zone (CPCSEZ). This role is designed for a strategic deal-maker with deep roots in the global financial services ecosystem. You will be responsible for defining the “Marketable DNA” of the SEZ, leveraging an established network of international banking and capital market contacts to convert high-level interest into anchored investments.

The Role: Financial Sector Strategy & Investment Facilitation

As a Senior Manager/Manager, you will drive the end-to-end investment lifecycle, from regional trend analysis to the final negotiation of complex offshore agreements.

• Strategic Propositioning: Define and refine sub-sector propositions for the CPCSEZ (Banking, Non-Banking, FinTech, and Capital Markets) based on rigorous research of global and regional trends.

• Relationship Management: Develop and leverage strategic partnerships with local and foreign entities to facilitate long-term investment into the zone.

• End-to-End Facilitation: Advise and lead sector-specific investments into the CPCSEZ, providing high-touch engagement from the initial inquiry to the final setup.

• Market Penetration: Recommend and execute industry-specific strategies to enter international markets, including leading high-profile international roadshows and investment forums.

• Advisory & Solutions: Proactively address investor concerns regarding the regulatory landscape and assist them in developing viable business models and proposals.

• Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and present business development strategies and promotion plans to senior management and government stakeholders.

• Contract Negotiation: Lead the negotiation and closing of contracts and legal agreements with prospective global investors.

Your Profile

We are looking for a candidate who combines a consultant’s analytical depth with an investment banker’s ability to close high-value deals.

• Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, offshoring, or investment banking.

• Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of Financial Services and Capital Markets (both banking and non-banking sectors).

• Global Exposure: Preferred exposure to multinational service businesses and a strong grasp of international markets.

• Technical Rigor: A sound understanding of tax, regulatory, and legal environments related to offshore financial centers and special economic zones.

• Key Skills:

  • Proven track record in a client-facing, business development capacity.

  • Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to “close” complex prospects.

  • Strong ability to build rapport with C-suite executives and international stakeholders.
