We are seeking a high-impact Business Development Leader to spearhead investment attraction for the Trade and Logistics sectors within the Colombo Port City Special Economic Zone (CPCSEZ). This role is designed for a strategic deal-maker with deep expertise in global supply chain dynamics, maritime trade, and multi-modal logistics. You will be responsible for defining the “Marketable DNA” of the SEZ, leveraging an established international network to convert high-level interest into anchored logistics hubs and trading operations.

The Role: Logistics Strategy & Investment Facilitation

As a Senior Manager/Manager, you will drive the end-to-end investment lifecycle, from regional trade flow analysis to the final negotiation of complex offshore commercial agreements.

• Strategic Propositioning: Define and refine sub-sector propositions for the CPCSEZ (e.g., Third-Party Logistics, Entrepôt Trade, E-commerce Hubs, and Maritime Services) based on sound research of global and regional trends.

• Relationship Management: Develop and leverage strategic relationships with local and foreign entities—including global shipping lines and logistics giants—to facilitate long-term partnerships.

• End-to-End Facilitation: Advise and lead sector-specific investments into the CPCSEZ, providing high-touch engagement from initial inquiry through to operational setup.

• Market Penetration: Recommend and execute industry-specific strategies to enter international markets, including leading high-profile international roadshows and logistics forums.

• Advisory & Solutions: Proactively address investor concerns regarding the regulatory landscape and assist them in developing viable business models and trade proposals.

• Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and present business development strategies and promotion plans to senior management and relevant regulatory bodies.

• Contract Negotiation: Lead the negotiation and closing of contracts and legal agreements with prospective global investors.

Your Profile

We are looking for a candidate who combines a consultant’s analytical depth with a seasoned executive’s ability to navigate the complexities of international trade.

• Experience: A minimum of 10+ years of experience in strategy, business development, or consulting within the trade and logistics sectors.

• Financial Rigor: Proven work exposure to corporate finance, providing the ability to evaluate investment feasibility and project ROI.

• Global Exposure: Preferred exposure to multinational services businesses and a strong grasp of international logistics markets.

• Technical Knowledge: A sound understanding of tax, regulatory, and legal environments related to Special Economic Zones and offshore trading.

• Key Skills:

  • Strong ability to build rapport with C-suite executives and international trade organizations.
