Role Overview

Charterhouse is partnering with an elite international law firm to appoint a Senior Finance Associate to its top-tier Dubai practice. This group is a market leader in navigating the intersection of conventional and Islamic finance, as well as complex restructuring mandates across the GCC and wider EMEA regions. As a senior member of the team, you will act as a primary lead on sophisticated cross-border transactions, bridging the gap between global financial standards and regional Sharia-compliant requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Transactional Leadership & Structuring

End-to-End Execution: Lead and manage complex financing and restructuring transactions from inception to closing, including acquisition, project, and real estate finance.
Dual-Stream Expertise: Structure and advise on both conventional and Islamic (Sharia-compliant) finance solutions for a diverse client base of global banks, sovereign wealth funds, and government-related entities (GREs).
Multi-Sector Coverage: Manage high-value mandates across critical industries, including Infrastructure, Energy (Renewables), TMT, and Construction.

2. Documentation & Negotiation

Expert Drafting: Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of core finance documentation, such as Common Terms Agreements (CTAs), facility agreements, intercreditor agreements, and comprehensive security packages.
Complex Diligence: Coordinate multi-jurisdictional due diligence workstreams and manage the Conditions Precedent (CP) and Conditions Subsequent (CS) processes with high autonomy.

3. Restructuring & Insolvency

Workouts & Refinancing: Oversee debt restructuring and insolvency mandates involving intricate multi-jurisdictional elements and distressed debt scenarios.
Strategic Advisory: Provide lenders and sponsors with risk-based advice on debt workouts and refinancing structures during market shifts.

4. Leadership & Mentorship

Team Supervision: Act as a mentor and supervisor for junior associates, ensuring workstream consistency, quality control, and professional development within the practice.
Client Engagement: Serve as a key point of contact for Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), sponsors, and GREs, maintaining senior-level relationships.

About You: Skills & Competencies

Proven Lead: You are confident running multi-layered transactions end-to-end with minimal partner oversight.
Technical Mastery: Advanced knowledge of market-standard drafting for facility agreements and a deep understanding of intercreditor dynamics.
Sharia-Compliance: Comfortable navigating the nuances of Islamic finance structures (e.g., Murabaha, Sukuk, Ijarah) alongside conventional lending.
Commercial Drive: A solutions-oriented mindset capable of driving execution in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Professional Experience: 6+ years PQE in banking and finance, with a strong track record at an international or top-tier regional firm.
Qualification: Common Law qualification (e.g., England & Wales) is strongly preferred.
Transaction History: Significant hands-on experience in Project Finance, Real Estate Finance, and Acquisition Finance.
Regional Context: Prior Middle East experience is a distinct advantage; otherwise, a genuine, long-term commitment to relocating to Dubai is essential.
Language: Proficiency in Arabic is considered a valuable asset but is not a prerequisite.
